Well.... my stomach is growling like crazy as I type! Let me explain. This morning Robyn let us sleep in an extra half hour... little did we know the reason behind that blessing! When we met for breakfast, we were surprised to see that there was no breakfast out for us! Robyn informed us that today is Poverty Day. Each one of us was given $1 to spend on food for the entire day - about how much an average kid in the Bronx might be given! You should've seen the looks on the teens' faces when Robyn told us this! We have to go to the local grocery store at some point today and spend it there. As we get tired and hungry throughout the day, we've been reminded to pray for the 38% of the Bronx who live under the poverty line. I'm really excited about this exercise - I know it will be really stretching and memorable, and will help us identify so much more with those we are ministering to. I'm also very curious to see how the teens will choose to spend their money!! I've already heard some talk about just getting a candy bar for dinner... I'm not gonna lie, I had the same thought :)
Later tonight we are going to the Brooklyn Tabernacle prayer meeting. This is the home of the Brooklyn Tabernacle choir, which is absolutely amazing if you've never heard them sing. I'm really hoping they sing tonight! The prayer meetings here are every Tuesday night, and they have hundreds and hundreds of people come out... it's gonna be awesome!
