So far, the mission’s trip has been life changing for me. I am definitely missing my family, but I am making new friends as I realize that I have made more friends on this trip that I’ve ever had. God is working in the most amazing ways. He has been teaching me that it’s not all about me, and also that in EVERY situation I can always look to him no matter what happens. Today we went to Promesa ("house of promise"-rehabilitation center) and had the opportunity to pray and sing with the people. They were willing to come. But the first couple minutes that we were starting to sing, a woman there had a seizure. Mitch, Andrew, Sarah, Ian, and I prayed for her as a group as everyone else decided to go back to their rooms. About an hour later after they had called the ambulance in, she walked back to her room. The presence of God was THERE and he had done work in that woman’s life. I heard everyone asking why we were singing and praising God when something bad had just happened, but we kept singing and attracted about 20 men and about 1 woman. We had the opportunity to pray with all of them, and they were very grateful. God’s presence was there, and he was smiling down upon us as we were shining God’s light to all those people. But the most exciting thing that I will be waiting for is being with the kids at VBS (vacation bible school) to connect with them.
